Description of Work | Temporary staff needed to assist with recording the cost of newly acquired fixed assets (both tangible and intangible), tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets. __________________________________ * Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of fixed assets. * Assign numbers and tag fixed asset items. * Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system. * Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation. * Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets. * Conduct periodic physical counts of fixed assets. * Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets and assist the auditors in their inquiries. * Track university expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations. * May be responsible for keying journal entries and assisting with asset reporting for yearend reports. * Position requires some standing and walking. Minimal lifting, pushing, and pulling may be required. |
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position | Excellent oral and written communication skills combined with a strong customer service orientation are essential. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task are highly desirable. |
