Plant Manager Asheville

Position title: Plant Manager

Reports to: Vice President of Manufacturing Operations

Supervises: Supervisors, shipping and receiving, maintenance, and office administration.


Position summary:

The Plant Manager holds the responsibility for the management of all aspects of the production operation for the Asheville plant. The Plant Manager is a proactive, solutions driven strategic thinker whose skills contribute to an efficient, systematic, and profitable operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily production operations of the facility.
  • Maintain and improve process efficiency and ISO 9001 quality standards adherence using Lean Manufacturing principles and other techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and all other requirements.
  • Recommend and implement/install approved safe, optimal production solutions and equipment.
  • Manage production personnel: Work allocation, training, and problem resolution.
  • Evaluate employee performance and motivate to achieve peak productivity.
  • Work with executive management team and new business development team to phase in new products or modify current products while meeting customer commitments.
  • Maintain a safe workplace and proactive equipment maintenance program.
  • Forecast facility capabilities and manage annual production capital and operating budgets.
  • Monitor all contract obligations for the manufacturing facility and ensure all contracts are performed to specifications and customer delivery schedules.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, Government Quality Assurance Representatives, and internal customers and suppliers to maintain continuous production and on-time delivery of products to customers.
  • Is the POC for Contract Cutting Customers regarding cutting schedules, status of shipments, etc.
  • Is a backup for critical requirements of the ERP system.
  • Required to travel as necessary.
  • The individual must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, willing to participate in team-oriented problem solving.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the VP of Manufacturing Operations.


Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent computer (Microsoft Suite) and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • A proven ability to execute against plan
  • Proven history of successful problem solving, goal setting, and achievement.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a diverse work force to achieve desired results.
  • Proven history of successful creation and implementation of training programs & operational procedures.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and the ability to lead teams to constant lean improvements. Experience and/or understanding of ISO 9001 programs is desired.

Education and work experience:

  • Seven (7) plus years of equivalent managerial experience in manufacturing' (apparel manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong computer skills, and ability to learn new programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or related discipline.
