Job Summary

Shape the narrative of one of the world's most dynamic industries! As a Content Creator at API, you'll be at the forefront of crafting compelling written content that drives discussion, influences policy & informs the public about America's natural gas and oil. Join us in communicating the exciting advancements, challenges, and opportunities within the energy sector to multiple audiences, including policymakers, our member companies and more.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Stay informed on industry trends and research to develop engaging op-eds, letters to the editor, executive speeches, townhall remarks and other notes that captivate audiences & champion API's policy positions.
  • Collaborate with senior API executives to draft impactful statements, testimony, and talking points that resonate with stakeholders and decision-makers, internally and externally.
  • Bring our digital presence to life by managing email marketing campaigns, crafting engaging social media content, and ensuring our message reaches the right audience.
  • Stay agile in responding to breaking news and industry developments, lending your expertise to rapid response efforts that shape public perception and policy discussions.
  • Provide editorial support across various departments, lending your keen eye for detail and knack for storytelling to elevate our communications efforts.
  • Take on special projects that push the boundaries of traditional communications and help API stand out in a crowded media landscape.

Key Relationships

  • Reports directly to the Senior Director, Executive Writing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. We're looking for candidates with three to five years of experience in communications or a related field who are eager to make their mark on the energy industry.
  • Communication Skills: Your writing chops are top-notch, and you have a knack for distilling complex ideas into clear, short, compelling narratives that resonate. One of your other key strengths is working across teams, as well as taking feedback well and incorporating it in future work. PowerPoint a plus.
  • Organization Skills: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and excel at juggling multiple priorities and deadlines with ease.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: From your impeccable grammar and spelling to your working knowledge of publishing processes and email marketing best practices, you bring a blend of creativity, attention to detail, and technical savvy to the table.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, meeting rooms, etc. on occasion
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery such as printers and copy machines
  • Transport items and equipment up to 10 lbs. on occasion

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10%
