Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a Senior Project Highway Engineer to join our growing New York Infrastructure team! This position is considered a senior technical role with collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of project engineers, designers, environmental scientists, and landscape architects. Transportation projects include roadways, highways, intersections, pedestrian and bicycle facilities and more! Our public and private clients include the NYSDOT, NYS Thruway Authority, counties and cities across New York State, and Design-Build teams to name a few.


Responsibilities

  • Apply diversified engineering principles and practices to our highway/roadway engineering operations across New York State.
  • Act as a Project Engineer, taking the lead in technical design aspects including design development and the creation of plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Use advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices in developing design.
  • Perform complex assignments requiring the development of new and/or improved techniques and procedures.
  • Assist in the education, development, and mentoring of staff and act as a resource for design questions.
  • Participate in the interpretation, update, and/or creation of Standards of Practice.
  • Perform QA/QC on work products from drafters, designers, and/or design engineers.
  • May serve as a direct contact for clients, other design professionals, and contractors.
  • May act as quality coordinator for discipline led projects.
  • May serve on professional association committees for establishment of policies, standards, procedures, and research at a local, state, or national level.
  • May stamp/sign drawings or reports and/or serve as Engineer of Record.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 9-12 years or more of highway/roadway design experience.
  • Registered as a PE in New York State or able to obtain registration through reciprocity.
  • Proficient in MicroStation.
  • Previous Inroads or Open Roads Designer experience.
  • Civil 3D experience is a plus.
  • Willing to work independently and with others as a team member.
  • Interested in developing, coaching, and mentoring others as a department leader.
  • Communication skills are a must.
  • Previous NYSDOT, NYSTA, and/or Locally Administered Federal Aid Project experience is a plus.

Compensation: $95,000-$116,800 DOQ.
