Position Summary:

With direction from the general manager, the position is accountable for safety, quality, productivity, material handling, cost performance, employee relations in a high-performance work team environment, capital improvements and budget preparation. Job demands monitoring production performance and implementing processes, procedures, and methods to improve results in all key functional areas. Position is responsible for implementing and maintaining best manufacturing practices and regulatory compliance for all production activities. If responsible for maintenance, the position also is accountable for preventive maintenance, equipment repair, and maintenance performance and systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all employees; lead a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries. Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Develop subordinates through education, training, coaching, and teamwork.
  • Assist in meeting the expectations of annual plant operating budget by improving plant productivity, controlling costs through purchasing, minimizing waste, and managing any other performance metric outlined by general manager.
  • Manage the onboarding and training of all plant employees (Safety training and assigning mentor).
  • Submit employee hours for payroll weekly using UKG platform.
  • Enter purchase orders into oracle and Coupa for raw materials, capital projects, maintenance parts and supplies, and vendor services as directed by plant manager.
  • Support quality initiatives to ensure product meets or exceeds customer expectations. Ensure employees complete required quality checks and audits.
  • Build and maintain productive employee relationships and job satisfaction. Support employees with on-going training and development. Provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as necessary. Recommend disciplinary action to plant manager and review for effectiveness and consistency. Work with HR to address employee concerns and issues.

Additional Job Expectations:

Lead by setting an example for the employees and lending support throughout the plant. Engage and interact individually with everyone throughout the day to understand needs and rate job performance. Be a coach on the field and not from the sidelines or press box. Always seek areas for improvement and give praise for good performance.

Education Required:

Bachelor's degree in business, science or engineering preferred.

Experience:

5-7 years pertinent experience
