Description and Requirements

Join Lenovo's corporate Global ESG team as an Advisory Engineer responsible for Lenovo's corporate product chemical materials compliance programs. This role will be based in Morrisville, North Carolina or remote and report to the Senior Manager, Global ESG Operations.

Job Responsibilities

The Advisory Engineer will drive Lenovo's global corporate product chemical compliance programs to achieve regulatory compliance and voluntary targets. The position will work in close collaboration with product development engineering teams, Global Supply Chain and Services Supply Chain to ensure Lenovo's compliance to global environmental product restricted materials/product chemical compliance requirements is maintained. The position will support product related elements of Lenovo's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation and be the primary corporate subject matter expert (SME) responsible for restricted materials/product chemical compliance programs. As part of the corporate Global ESG team, the position will work with cross functional teams to meet customer requirements and Lenovo's environmental goals.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Track and analyze global emerging and existing environmental requirements including product restricted materials/product chemical compliance and provide requirements for Lenovo's corporate product environmental specifications.
  • Support product development teams and other business areas as Lenovo's global SME for product chemical materials restrictions and compliance.
  • Drive requirements and improve processes for Lenovo's Full Materials Disclosure (FMD) restricted substances assessment program, including managing required supplier information and documentation and tracking and analyzing regulations restricting substances used in electronic products (e.g. RoHS, REACH, SVHCs).
  • Support compliance to Lenovo and regulatory requirements related to product environmental compliance, including through review of product compliance documentation in compliance tools and processes.
  • Track regulatory due dates and prepare reports or other submissions to regulatory agencies.
  • Support sales and customer account teams with responses to requests for information, customer proposals, questionnaires, presentations and participate in customer meetings/events as corporate subject matter expert.
  • Support ecolabel program criteria compliance including preparing documentation for verification (e.g. EPEAT and TCO Certified).
  • Collaborate with the Government Relations team and engage with external NGOs, industry trade organizations and others to drive the development of responsible product regulations.
  • Assist extended global ESG team with additional projects as needed.

Job Requirements

  • 8 years of relevant experience in product development / engineering, environmental or regulatory compliance , environmental engineering, or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Participation in global meetings outside of standard working hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with environmental regulatory compliance or management systems implementation (e.g ISO 14001, EPEAT).
  • Experience with product development/engineering.
  • Experience with product restricted materials or product chemical compliance management (e.g. REACH, TSCA, RoHS, SVHC, PFAS, Prop 65).
  • Knowledge of corporate level ESG programs (e.g. ISO 14001).
  • Experience with implementation of EMS, including developing policies and technical guidelines.
  • Strong project management skills to execute cross functional projects.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter who proactively identifies risks/issues and develops innovative solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for communication of technical requirements to diverse stakeholders and management.

*We are open to this role being worked remote for someone located in the US.

The base salary budgeted range for this position is $120-135K. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission. Lenovo's various benefits can be found on .
