Position Summary | This position's primary purpose is to support CGIBD research by providing lab management and billing services as part of the Center's Advanced Analytics (AA) Core. This includes the utilization of all relevant resources associated with the Core (including funds, space, equipment, etc) to provide timely, cost-effective support for related research activities. This position will also assist other AA Core personnel with projects and experiments as needed to meet the unit's business needs, and will be afforded the opportunity to train on the Core's various instruments and workflows, with an eye toward future expansion of the position's role as those proficiencies deepen and develop. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | The Research Specialist must have knowledge of research concepts, practices and procedures, regulatory requirements, and experiment planning. The Specialist must be proficient with Windows-based computers and have the ability to develop and modify spreadsheets. The Specialist must have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with a large, diverse user base regarding their research and scientific needs. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Prior experience with cell culture, next-generation sequencing, RNA-Seq, and/or qPCR is preferred, but not required. |

Special Physical/Mental Requirements | Must be able to work at a lab bench and computer, either standing or seated, for extended periods of time with minimal interruption, with or without accommodation. Personal responsibility, integrity, organization, and attention to detail are also critical to ensuring uninterrupted operations and the financial health of both the AA Core and its usership. |
