Job Description

Versar Global Solutions is looking for a full-time Structures Maintenance Engineer-In-Training to inspect, manage, and administer permits under a roadway operations and maintenance project with the Florida Department of Transportation. The Permit Inspector plays a crucial role in the project management team's provision of services for the FDOT. This position is located in Miami, FL.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews plans and assists in ERC Review process FDOT for D6 Asset Maintenance
  • Field inspects all construction activities resulting from approved Bridge Works on the roadways, structures, and facilities covered by this contract during and after the construction to ensure conformance with regulations and specifications.
  • Perform and document field inspections to determine the Contractor's work methods and product acceptability.
  • Reviews and ensures Construction on FDOT R/W adheres to approved requirements and FDOT regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate and attend all post-approval meetings and inspections. Obtain all project certifications and final (as-built) plans by department procedure/ FAC requirements. Electronically upload all plans into the DOT database.
  • Demonstrate good safety practices and establish work areas that are compliant with OSHA safety standards and practices.
  • Read and interpret plans, specifications, design standards, and manuals.
  • BWO Tracking-Scheduling-Completion process
  • RCI information data Collection, Inspections, and input to FDOT Database
  • Bridge Work Order field reviews and QC Inspections
  • Overall oversight of Lane Closure Review/Schedule and Submission into LCIS
  • Review all Completed Bridge Work Orders to be sent to FDOT
  • Technical Documentation for all Procedural Inspection Reporting
  • Monitor with Area Operations Managers the Bridge Material in stock for Inventory tracking
  • Analyze, interpret, and plot survey data.
  • Communicate technical information effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Work in all environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with a preference for an Engineering degree
  • At least three (3) years of experience in transportation maintenance, construction inspection, or similar field.
  • Holder or ability to pass and be certified with Advanced MOT certification
  • In process or interest to get EIT Certification
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations, interpret contracts, and plan technical specifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
