Job Description

The Extrusion Technical Lead in our Marshall, NC plant will safely and efficiently assist in the operation of extrusion machines in accordance with specifications and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma

  • Ability to climb and descend stairs to and from primary nip to trouble-shoot problems and train associates.

  • Ability to perform screen change and die clean functions as well as operate roll handling equipment (hoists, Lifts, and mobile equipment).

Essential Requirements

  • Understands, operates and makes any needed adjustments to all blown film systems.

  • Acts as a SME for machine, process, and safeguards.

  • Holds responsibility for blown film products in conformance with specifications and manufacturing instructions and can explain to others.

  • Ensures that production reports and job jackets are neat, complete, and accurate to maintain trace ability.

  • Maintains a clean and safe working area, lead others in improving and maintaining standards.

  • Perform all quality tests required.

  • Can proficiently operate and trouble shoot blown film machines and processes.

  • Proficiently perform set-ups with waste at acceptable levels, can train and lead SMED (Singe Minute Exchange of Die) events.

  • Perform extrusion machine / process train-the-trainer sessions.

  • Perform gap analysis of knowledge and develop training plans for extrusion personnel.

  • Train and monitor all extrusion skills.

  • Perform skill check audits.

  • Able to identify resins, films and understand physical properties of material and their impact to the overall material function.

  • Able to trouble shoot most blown film process issues.

  • Review and approve daily production and waste reporting.

  • Complete direct reports performance appraisals as required.

  • Develop bench strength for each shift position.

  • Ensure inventory cycle counting is accurate and completed in a timely manner.

  • Microsoft office computer experience is expected.

  • Must be able to communicate at all levels of the plant and capable of making decisions.

  • Ability to perform quality tests using test equipment and have a mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting skills to solve issues.

  • Able to motivate a team to continually improve blown film processes and the ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions and offer input into the most efficient scheduling scenarios.

  • A full understanding of specs and how to interpret them.

  • Clear understanding of measuring tools. (Tape measure and rulers).

  • Effective oral & written communication skills. Understanding and compliance with safety procedures.

  • Ability & willingness to lead others.

  • Ability & willingness to train, teach and coach others.

  • Participates as a team player who respectfully communicates, shares knowledge and cooperates with other team members.

  • Willingness to be flexible and work in other areas of the facility as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Can proficiently operate and trouble shoot blown film machines and processes.

  • Coordinate the efficient execution of all changeovers and weekly PMs.

  • Experience with JDE ERP System is preferred but not required

  • Function as a change agent in developing a positive culture focused on continuous improvement.

  • Ability and willingness to train, teach, and coach others.

  • Able to identify resins, films and understand physical/mechanical properties of materials and their impact on the overall material function.

Schedule:

  • 12 Hour shift 7pm -7am

  • Monday to Friday

  • Night shift

  • Rotating weekends
