Job Description

SUMMARY

Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and engagement between the IT department and other business units within the company and to promote awareness and understanding of IT services and capabilities across the organization. Devise an internal communications strategy for the department and will craft clear and concise messages regarding IT initiatives, policies, and updates to relevant stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with senior IT leadership to develop and implement communication initiatives to support IT projects and campaigns.
  • Work with senior IT leadership to define key messages and communication objectives, ensuring alignment with departmental and company goals.
  • Identify core communication channels IT will leverage to communicate with stakeholders and create engaging and informative content for those channels with an eye toward organizational objectives and target audiences.
  • Create content in various forms (email messages, reports, videos, presentations, social media posts, text messages, etc.) to communicate IT alerts, reminders, updates, initiatives, deadlines, program details, training information, etc.
  • Create print/email/video style guides for departmental communications and training resources and produce appropriate templates for each.
  • Collaborate with IT management to develop effective communication policies and procedures for various situations or crises.
  • Maintain company portal page and work with departments to coordinate the use of that space according to company policy.
  • Assist in the rollout of new IT programs by coordinating meetings with key constituents, establishing milestones for rollout tasks, communicating rollout schedules and details with end-users, and drafting rollout support documentation.
  • Assist in the production and dissemination of training materials and training resources.
  • Maintain an organized repository of communication documents, templates, white papers, notices, videos, logos, graphics, policies, and procedures, etc.
  • Serve as a liaison between the IT department and other business units, facilitating communication and collaboration on cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in crafting IT policy documentation for audiences external to IT.
  • Work collaboratively with IT Subject Matter Experts to translate complex IT concepts into simplified form.
  • Maintain a content calendar and ensure timely delivery of communication materials according to project timelines and deadlines.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and tactics, gathering feedback to continuously improve communication processes.
  • Handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, information technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Five (5) + years' experience in communications, preferably in a technology-related environment or IT department.
  • Three (3) + years' experience managing communications for a $200M+ company with multiple business units and a geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Experience producing, editing, and publishing content in print, image, and video form.
  • Demonstrable experience in graphic design.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficient in using SharePoint as a communications tool.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of the basics of copyright law and plagiarism as they relate to content use.
  • Proficiency in the use of social media management tools and graphic design software.
  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle a large volume of tasks with time-sensitive deadlines.

  • Ability to forge close working relationships with internal customers/cohorts.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, share work product with others, and accept feedback graciously from superiors and colleagues alike.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in clear and understandable language as well as the ability to produce content without the benefit of boilerplate language or a preexisting draft.
  • Knowledge of IT terminology, processes, and technologies.
  • Experience working for a federal contractor and/or in a corporate environment.
  • Experience using screen capture programs such as Camtasia, Snagit, Loom, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is expected to be remote; however, the company reserves the right to require onsite work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing and seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.   • Salary starts at $70,000 annually
