Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
Academic Advisors in the Office of Advising and Academic Support in the Beaver College of Health Sciences at Appalachian State University provide a variety of services to undergraduate Health Sciences majors, and serve students in one or more of the following programs: Communication Sciences & Disorders; Exercise Science; Health Care Management; Health, Physical Education & Coaching; Health Sciences; Nursing; Nutrition & Foods; Public Health; Recreation Management; and Social Work. Advisors collaborate with Health Sciences records staff, department chairs, program directors, faculty mentors, and others to ensure student success. In addition, advisors are familiar with and work closely with colleagues in other units on campus, including Financial Aid, Student Success, Transfer Admissions and Engagement, Registrar, etc. This Academic Advisor is part of a team responsible for providing a variety of services to undergraduate Health Sciences students, assisting them with their academic plans, and supporting and encouraging them as they work to achieve their academic goals. NOTE: The primary reporting location for this Academic Advisor position will be at the Hickory campus. Attendance at the Boone campus is mandatory for initial and ongoing training and certain College/University events. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
