Primary Purpose of Position | Under direction of Associate Dean for College of Health and Sciences (CHAS), the Professional Tutor/Academic Coach for the STEM Learning Center for Mathematics and Science Student Academic Support Services is responsible for providing tutoring and learning assistance, academic and student development coaching through the STEM Learning Center in the College of Health and Sciences (CHAS) that help guide students towards successful learning in mathematics and science outside of the classroom. |
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | Commitment to diversity and inclusion in fulfillment of the university's mission, knowledgeable of university and pre-professional curriculum requirement; knowledgeable of tutoring practices and principles; attained intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and interpret any pertinent course materials such as syllabi, course/homework instructions or any educational information that will assist in the student's learning experience. Ability to write daily reports and email correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with students or employees of organization. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and be able to explain/interpret to students and the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations |
Minimum Education/Experience | Bachelor's degree in mathematics or physics required or related field or equivalent plus 2-3 years related experience. |
