Position: Quality Technician II

Location: Hickory, NC

Hourly Rate: $24.21

Shift: Day shift; 7am to 7pm and are on a 2-2-3 schedule.

While reporting to the Quality Manager,you will be responsiblefor performingmaintenancetasks, specifically proactive tasks,necessary to provide high quality, efficient, timely shipment of Sonoco products.Safety, quality, productivityandstrongwork ethic are important to the Sonoco culture.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Performing all Primary Functions of Quality Assurance Technician I when and as required (Reference Quality Assurance Technician I Job Description)
  • Providing QC Lab coverage for PTO and call outs.
  • Coordinating, verifying and documenting defect type and quantity for customer products returned for credit (RMA's).
  • Attending and participating in bi-monthly RMA approval meetings.
  • Attending and participating in bi-monthly customer complaint and corrective action meetings.
  • Reviewing and completing customer Certificates of Assurance (COA's) prepared by Quality Assurance Technician I.
  • Performing special testing outside of the areas of responsibility for the Quality Assurance Technician Assists with day-to-day investigations into potential quality issues (quality near-misses, specification and testing issues & others)
  • Enters and maintains Axapta ERP records for generating customer credits
  • Performs R&D testing as requested by Technical Manager
  • Performs special seal strength testing for selected customers
  • Maintains QA Hold areas in proper clean and controlled condition
  • Maintains sample and color file room in proper clean and controlled condition including cleanout of obsolete files
  • Performs care of and weekly maintenance calibrations on GC equipment
  • Coordinates collection, testing and approval of bulk solvent deliveries
  • Collects and delivers required customer order samples to customer service representatives
  • Reviews & maintains QC Lab files in orderly condition
  • Reviews and coordinates QC Food Safety inspection requirements
  • Collaborating closely with other departments and teamsfor proactive problem resolutions.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organized work area.
  • Manage small projects to maintain or upgrade equipment.
  • Performing all duties in support of Sonoco's quality and safety policies.

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • Two year Associates' Degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of printing including a basic knowledge of graphics and plate technology.
  • Working knowledge of the company's ERP system (Axapta).
  • General knowledge of departmental procedures.
  • General working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Working independently and managing multiple tasks in an off shift position that will require overtime including some weekends
