Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The Bronco One Stop is a centralized space for students to access common student services to strengthen their ability to navigate Fayetteville State University. The goal of Bronco One Stop is to enhance the student experience with the application process, academic records, financial aid, making payments, speaking with an advisor to register for classes, gaining assistance with degree planning, receiving academic support, and navigating university resources. The Learning Center provides student-centered academic support services and resources that promote higher learning, enhance student excellence, and prepare students for 21st-century careers. The goals of the Learning Center are to offer personalized and collaborative approaches to leverage student strengths, encourage student development through strong programs of academic support, and work with other academic units to ensure that students develop the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary for success in all academic majors. Services include the Math Support Lab, Writing & Communication Lab, Supplemental Instruction, Bronco STAR, Academic Success Workshops, Student Success Coaching, Upswing Online Tutoring, and an Open Computer Lab.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Academic Success Coach is responsible for providing academic skills consultation, sponsoring student success workshops, and coordinating the peer coaching project. Working closely with instructional leaders, the Academic Success Coach is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of peer coaches and student success practices. The Academic Success Coach works with faculty, staff, administration, and students to implement and evaluate strategies that lead to increased student completion and persistence.
Description of Work Continued:
Student Support Services-50%:
Promote a positive and successful learning experience for students to increase student
retention, success, and completion.
Utilize the EAB alert system to identify at-risk students, provide early intervention, and provide personalized support to undergraduate students to address academic challenges and receive guidance on study strategies, time management, organization skills, and other relevant topics to enhance academic performance and persistence.
Coordinate the virtual peer coaching project, which supports freshman-level classes with high.
DFW rates.
Provide one-on-one coaching to students enrolled in courses with high DFW rates.
Conduct weekly check-ins with assigned students via text, phone, and email.
Recruit, supervise, and train peer coaches to ensure they are monitoring students academic
progress, communicating with each student weekly, and intervening as necessary to assist those
students having difficulty.
Aid students in resolving problems that arise related to progress toward achieving academic
goals, persistence, and attendance.
Host workshops designed to address common academic difficulties and equip students with practical tools and techniques to overcome them.

Student Needs Assessment-30%:
Help students identify their learning strengths and weaknesses and connect them with the
necessary university resources to aid in success.
Evaluate student learning styles, skills, deficiencies, and goals; identify appropriate learning
resources for them to use; and facilitate their use of those resources.
Assist the Learning Center Director and other institution administration as needed in collecting
quantitative and qualitative data associated with the reporting.
Track student success initiatives on campus and work closely with the learning center program
assistant to track academic support services that are campus-wide.

University Collaboration-10%:
Work closely with faculty to schedule peer coaching.
Attend faculty meetings and student orientation sessions to inform of project services.
Communicate with faculty members on the academic progress of students
Identify faculty and staff to assist with tutoring and conduct academic workshops.
Serve on university, regional, state, and national committees.
Make referrals for on-campus and off-campus resources
Participate in special programs such as new student orientation, open house majors fair, etc.
Serve on committees as appropriate and as appointed by supervisor.

Professional Development-5%:
Actively seek professional development opportunities to maintain and improve knowledge and
expertise in advising and technology.
Attend meetings, conferences, and workshops to increase knowledge of retention evidence-
based strategies and technology to support student success.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge on special populations to include adult learners, veterans,
online, military-affiliated, and students on academic probation.

Customer Care-5%:
Respond to inquiries from students with care and quality services via phone, email and in
person. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and relevance of program webpages, descriptions, educational material, schedules, event calendars, etc. Serve students through various platforms and methods to meet their needs. Ability to work occasionally after 5:00 pm and on weekends (especially during peak times).
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with at least two years' work experience with student populations as an advisor, peer coach/leader, resident assistant, or tutor.
