Job Description

Davidson Outdoors Affinity Trip Leaders provide affinity-based programming, outreach and support for student diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at Davidson Outdoors. Supervised by the Directors of Davidson Outdoors, this position will serve as a critical leader in developing strong interpersonal relationships with historically and systemically minoritized student communities. While we aim to support many such communities through Davidson Outdoors such as undocumented students and first-generation students, this role is particularly aimed at creating affinity spaces to support students of color & LGBTQIA+ students.

Through creating spaces that are designed specifically for student populations underrepresented in the outdoors, this position is tasked with leading trips that connect students to each other and existing affinity spaces outside of Davidson College.

This position includes weekend work up to 20 hours.

Required Skills

* Qualified applicants will have completed the Davidson Outdoors Trip Leader Training Course

* Qualified applicants will have a current Wilderness First Aid certification or higher level of First Aid Certification

* Qualified applicants will have led at least 2 Davidson Outdoors Trips

* Qualified applicants will have experience working with college students from historically underrepresented populations (students of color, first-generation, international students, LGBTQIA+ students, undocumented students, etc.) in a leadership capacity.

* Strong facilitation skills

Davidson is strongly committed to achieving excellence and cultural diversity, and welcomes applications from women, members of minority groups, and others who would bring additional dimensions to the college's mission.
