Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Director, the IPS Supervisor oversees the operation of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) evidence-based Supported Employment Model. The IPS Supervisor provides outcome-based supervision to the model's Employment Support Professionals and Employment Peer Mentors to ensure the delivery of evidence-based employment services and ethical practices. Provides oversight of employment services and collaboration with behavioral health supports.

Primary Duties

  • Provide supervision of Individual Placement Support Team at least monthly with each staff member including the development of field mentoring and supervision logs. Ensure that services are integrated and attend meetings for each mental health treatment team on a quarterly basis.
  • Deliver systematic job development by spending 65% of working time visiting employers to learn about their business needs and make at least 6 face-to-face employer contacts a week. Document contacts with employers.
  • Develop Employment and Crisis Plan with individuals.
  • Coordinate IPS Steering Committee Meetings; attend monthly Individual Placement Support Collaborative Meetings; hold weekly supervision meetings with IPS Team; attend monthly staff meetings with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors.
  • Assist IPS individuals with re-enrollment in higher education or credentialing to expand job skills or enhance career development to include changing employers or career choice.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Drive the delivery of the service.
  • Oversee the operations of the program or team to support high fidelity program implementation.
  • Provide oversight of employment services and collaborates with behavioral health supports.
  • Supervise staff to assure the delivery of evidence-based and ethical practices.
  • Provide weekly outcome-based supervision and monthly field mentoring with each staff member.
  • Collaborate with DVRS to discuss referrals and problem solve barriers.
  • Directly provide IPS services, maintaining a caseload of no more than nine individuals.
  • Provide psychiatric rehabilitation interventions that support employment and educational goals.
  • Ensure the integration of IPS with other mental health services.
  • Use assertive engagement strategies to continuously engage beneficiaries in IPS services.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • Must be a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), with at least 6 months of vocational experience. Certified IPS (CIPS) or Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential recommended. "Qualified professional" means, within the MH/DD/SAS system of care either:

(a) an individual who holds a license, provisional license, or certificate issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, including a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing who also has four years

of full-time accumulated experience in MH/DD/SAS with the population served:

(b) a graduate of a college or university with a Master's degree in a human service field and has one year of full-time, pre- or post-graduate degree accumulated supervised MH/DD/SAS experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has one year of full-time,

pre- or post-graduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling;

(c) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a human service field and has two years of full-time, pre- or post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised MH/DD/SAS experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has two years of full-

time, pre- or post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or

(d) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field other than human services and has four years of full-time, pre-, or post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised MH/DD/SAS experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has four

years of full-time, pre- or post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.

  • Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, families, all levels of staff, and community agencies.
  • Effectively communicate in oral and written form.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • A practical problem solver able to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standard exists.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed within an office or community setting, and travel throughout the community is required 30% of the time for staff oversight, stakeholder meetings and conferences. Some overnight travel may be required 4-8 days per year. The employee may be visiting a variety of worksites and may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the ServiceSource office environment is usually quiet. The noise level at worksites could be quiet, moderate, or loud.
