The role of Mechanic 8 is to have efficiently running production and manufacturing equipment and assist with capital projects.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Installation of material handling and processing equipment.
• Change over and Setup packaging equipment.
• Maintenance of the machinery.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical problems.
• Effectively communicate with supervisors, other mechanics and outside vendors.
• Help organize and maintain the parts supply inventory.
• Perform all responsibilities with good safety and housekeeping practices.
• Improve the performance and efficiency of the machines.
• Effectively participate as a team member on various projects.

  • % of work order and preventive maintenance done on time

Essential:

• Certificate in industrial maintenance preferred
• Associates degree in industrial maintenance preferred
• A level 8 mechanic should be a consistently good performer. The individual should be able to perform rudimentary tasks in all the following areasand excel at one. A level 8 is expected to perform his/her duties to high standards in the area of safety and timeliness and would be expected to share their knowledge with others.

Electrical

1. Power wiring:

• Replace a motor
• Install a switch
• Isolate power and lock it out
• Use electrical test equipment
• Terminate wires from a diagram
• Isolate and repair a power circuit problem
• Understand a power circuit blueprint

2. Control Systems

• Trouble shooting
• Program a process controller (temperature or motor for example)
• Understand control circuit blueprints
• Selecting the proper component on a repair or installation

Mechanical

1. Shop Skills

• Works safely and cleans up after the part is fabricated
• Operates a lathe and milling machine
• Accurate use of measurement equipment
• Welding
• Use of all other cutting and finishing equipment
• Can produce a quality part

2. Production floor skills

• Trouble shooting
• Knowledge of the machine and equipment used in distribution
• Ease of understanding unfamiliar equipment
• Change over performance
• Ability to modify equipment to improvement performance

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.

This position requires the ability to work mandatory overtime to meet business needs either within the day and/or the weekend and business operates on multiple shifts.May require working on holidays.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Heavy: Requires exertion of 51 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 26 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 11 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Very Heavy: Requires exertion in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Duration & Repetitive Standards:

Constantactivity or condition exists up more than 2/3 of the time equivalent to more than 5.25 hours per workday or more than 40 minutes each hour.
