Job Description

The (BAS) Building Automation System Control Technician I will routinely assess, read, and adjust i/net calculations on the BAS system. This position operates and manipulates facility systems without detriment to facility or safety from the BAS system, while routinely conducting troubleshooting of in-field BAS related components.

This is a union contract position which requires on-site presence at the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) facility at Research Triangle Park (RTP) in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Accesses BAS front-end graphic pages and system alarms to actively monitor and control temperature, humidity, air pressurization, differential pressure, VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) percentage, flow rate, damper and valve positions, occupancy points, and water level alarms, etc., to include but not be limited to only these activities.
  • Edits BAS graphic pages to accurately reflect facility updates, system changes, and alterations.
  • Adjust critical equipment set points and create and assign alarm messages to the set points. BAS I Technicians add critical equipment monitoring/set points to the BAS II as directed.
  • Troubleshoots, installs, replaces, and repairs BAS sub-LAN controller hardware and equipment.
  • Provides requested information via screenshots, copying data, saving files etc.
  • Performs annual inspections, calibrations, and repair procedures as necessary for BAS field devices.
  • Inspects BAS related UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) devices for proper operation, reports deficiencies to appropriate personnel for repair.
  • Independently calibrate controls on components of the automation system and perform test and balance procedures on the ventilation system.
  • Installs new BAS components and develops programs for their proper operation on I/net, continuum, Distech, and StruxureWare BAS systems.
  • Independently troubleshoots, repairs, and/or replaces BAS field components to return BAS system to normal operation.
  • Performs all other duties as required.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in installation, programming, and troubleshooting of Building Automation Control Systems (BAS)
  • Possess own position-related hand tools for use on job site.
  • 18+ years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must have transportation to and from Company office.
  • Possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver's License
  • Be able to lift fifty to sixty pounds (50 - 60 lbs.)
  • Be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as scheduled.
  • Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen
  • Ability to obtain facility/site security and access credentials.
  • Be able to work alternate shifts, overtime, nights, and weekends as scheduled or as needed.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related technical certifications or licenses.
  • Familiarity with I/net, continuum, Distech, and/or StruxureWare (BAS) Building Automation Systems or infrastructure management programs and software
