Position Summary | The Division of Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling in the Department of Health Sciences invites applications for this open track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The primary responsibilities for this faculty appointment include teaching didactic and seminar courses within the Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling master's program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We are a two-year, in-person program especially interested in candidates with graduate degrees in Counselor Education, Counselor Education & Supervision, Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Counselor Education, or a closely related field from a CACREP accredited program. Our needs for teaching expertise are in the following areas: Foundations of Counseling, Group Counseling, Tests and Measurement, Practicum and Internship Supervision, Tests & Measurements, and Substance Abuse and Co-Occurring Disabilities. Faculty member may spend one day/week on the inpatient rehabilitation unit providing counseling services. The Division of Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling curriculum includes a focus on medical, developmental, and psychiatric disabilities. The Assistant Professor position requires a focus in mental health counseling and/or rehabilitation counseling practice across a range of disability and multicultural populations. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | * Experience teaching at the Graduate level * Successful experience supervising, mentoring, and teaching master's students in a mental health counseling or rehabilitation counseling program. * Experience providing counseling services to people with developmental and/or psychiatric disabilities, or adjustment to disability preferably in a medical, inpatient, or community practice setting. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | * Successful experience supervising, mentoring, and teaching graduate students in a mental health counseling or rehabilitation counseling program * Current LCMHC or LPC credential * Eligible for or current professional licensure as LCMHC, LPC, LCAS, or CRC * Record of publication and funded research. * Experience serving persons with developmental and/or psychiatric disabilities. * Experience with individuals across the spectrum of disabilities. |
