Min T/E Requirements
Masters degree in Music or equivalent professional experience. Evidence of successful college or professional teaching experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent performing and teaching skills (piano) in the jazz idiom.

Desired Qualifications: Earned doctorate in music or equivalent professional experience. Demonstrated abilities as a performer and private teacher. The proven ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from various backgrounds and cultures is highly valued.

Job Description
Established in 1887 as a school for the education of American Indians, The University of North Carolina at Pembroke serves a distinctly diverse student body and encourages inclusion and appreciation of the values of all people. Located in the heart of Pembroke, N.C., UNCP boasts an enrollment of 8,200 in 41 undergraduate and 18 graduate programs and offers a personalized learning environment where faculty and staff are dedicated to engaged scholarship, high academic standards, creative activity and public service. The Department of Music seeks a part-time faculty member to teach applied piano lessons to music majors studying Jazz and Commercial music. Additional teaching opportunities may include Jazz Combo, Private Improvisation, and General Education courses including Jazz Appreciation, Rhythm & Rock, and Intro to Hip-Hop. The successful candidate should expect to be on campus one day per week to teach Applied Jazz Piano and Private Improvisation. Candidates interested in teaching Jazz Combo and/or General Education courses in Music should expect to be on campus two days per week. Excellence in teaching and learning conducted within a rigorous and stimulating environment is an important core value of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The Music Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and part-time faculty are expected to maintain department and university standards. The successful candidate must hold a master's degree in music and demonstrate significant professional experience.
