Description of Responsibilities and Duties
The CAD Technician will be responsible for converting exiting CAD formatted drawings to PDF formatted drawings. CAD documents that are to be converted are to be limited to architectural drawings. The square footage of each room and space is to be recorded for all CAD documents. A physical inspection and verification of each space shall be performed, confirming that all documents are accurate. All discrepancies should be noted and corrected to represent the conditions found in the facilities. The Technician shall be responsible for physically inspecting all spaces and rooms that are recorded on existing PDF formatted documents. All discrepancies should be noted and corrected to represent the conditions found in the facilities. The physical inspection of the spaces shall include recording the room/space number, measure to ensure the square footage is correct, list any inaccurate information, provide a count of the physical seating, and take photographs.
School/Department Information
The Office of Academic Planning and Institutional Research (APIR) at UNCSA is responsible for fulfilling all the data collection and reporting requirements to federal, state and other agencies while maintaining the highest professional standards of accuracy, objectivity and timeliness. APIR provides data and data analysis to aid the university in institutional planning, policy formulation and decision-making.

APIR is dedicated to improving institutional effectiveness by exploring and implementing more up-to-date technology to conduct business and assisting campus academic, administrative and educational support (AAES) units with their institutional research, assessment and data analysis needs.

Description of Work
UNC School of the Arts is searching for a time limited CAD Technician. The individual will assist Academic Planning and Institutional Research and Design & Construction convert existing CAD formatted documents to PDF formatted documents. Documents are then to be organized and catalogued for use of maintaining DAVE.
Work Schedule and Hours
Standard working hours are between 8 A.M. - 5 P.M., Monday - Friday. Hours outside the standard working schedule may be necessary depending upon departmental needs
Required Qualifications
Two semesters of classes in Architectural CAD, two semesters of Architectural Technology or Space Planning. Proficient in the usage of AutoCAD, Word, and Excel software. Possess a general knowledge of commercial design and construction. Have a knowledge of how to take measurements and calculate the square footage of rooms and spaces. Have a general knowledge of the North Carolina Building Code and associated accessibility codes.
