What You Will Do:

Gannett Fleming is a leading engineering and construction management company that serves the pharmaceutical and industrial manufacturing business sectors. We are looking to hire an energetic, self-motivated, and innovative Senior Process Engineer in our Raleigh, NC area office. Join our Journey!

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will provide guidance to develop and implement process concepts and designs on projects related to Gene and Cell Therapy, Formulation and Filling and facility utilities.

Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of biotechnology, pharmaceutical and other industrial processes projects including both existing renovations / retrofits and new construction.

Your day-to-day may include the following:

  • Leading process teams by providing design and technical input within life sciences and industrial scope of work.
  • Ability to direct process flow layouts and clean utility design activities.
  • Interacting with clients, consultants, vendors, and contractors to coordinate project requirements and design intent and support business development activities.
  • Develop PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) for based on process and client requirements.
  • Complete calculations for utilities for new and existing facilities for proper equipment load design, pipe sizing and other technical design features.
  • Write process equipment specifications for tanks and complex process equipment.
  • Write testing requirements and attend FATs for equipment as needed.
  • Perform construction administration functions, such as review submittals, answer RFIs and make field visits to verify the intent if design is being met.
  • Perform HAZOP reviews and project quality reviews.
  • Perform process flow simulations.
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Approximately 10% travel, primarily domestic.
  • Ability to be a self-starter on tasks and projects.

Education | Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina
  • 10+ years of experience to include working in a chemical or biopharmaceutical industrial facility. Preferred experience in Gene and Cell Therapy technologies and Upstream and Downstream Operations
  • Preferred equipment experience in Bioreactors, UF/DF(s), Chromatography, Centrifuge, and clean utilities (WFI, Clean Steam)
  • Knowledge of GMP and industry standard requirements
  • Familiarity with Autodesk CAD and/or Revit
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Suite or Bluebeam Revu.
