Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position
The Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education, within the College of Education and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an assistant or associate professor in the area of School Administration/Leadership and serve in the capacity of Coordinator for the Master of School Administration and School Administration Add-on Licensure programs. The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching graduate level courses, conducting research, student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, conducting scholarly activities and all other activities required for tenure. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment and service to the Department, College and University as needed.

This is a 9-month tenure track position.

The College of Education comprises three departments: the Department of Counseling, the Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education, and the Department of Educator Preparation. The Department of Leadership Studies and Adult Education offers a variety of master and doctoral level academic programs: Master of Science in Adult Education, Master of School Administration, School Administration Add-on Licensure, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership Studies. The department prepares students to be transformative scholar-practitioners who use equity, access, and advocacy in their practices as adult education professionals and leaders. The Master of School Administration and School Administration Add-on Licensure are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP).

Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet SACSCOC minimum requirements of a Ph.D. or Ed.D. (or appropriate terminal degree) in educational administration/leadership, policy, or relevant field from an accredited university.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
  1. Certified NCDPI Standard Professional Principal Licensure or Principal (K-12) Licensure Demonstrated experience providing high quality instruction to graduate candidates in school administration or educational leadership.
  2. Demonstrated experience in using adult learning strategies for teaching via different formats (e.g., Face-to-face, Hybrid, Online), and ability to engage diverse population.
  3. Evidence of scholarly productivity including but not limited to presentations at academic meetings and conferences, manuscript publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, invited podcasts, or webinars.
  4. Evidence of successful grant writing to support scholarly engagement and/or advance programmatic goals.
  5. Demonstrated experience with reporting formats relative to CAEP accreditation and other assessment and accreditation of academic programs.
  6. Evidence of engaged service relevant to the PK-12 educational community.
  7. Evidence of partnerships with local school districts, NCDPI, and other stakeholders
  8. Administrative experience at the school and/or district levels.
