Overview

Responsibilities

  • Develops and improves manufacturing processes for aerostructures.
  • Defines and performs research programs to mature concepts, technologies, and processes.
  • Ensures processes meet engineering requirements and utilize compliant approaches up front.
  • Define and executes test and qualification plans and report.
  • Assesses or evaluates process and product performance and manufacturing cost and viability.
  • Performs trade studies for design alternatives.
  • Capable of identifying necessary resources to ensure successful development plans.
  • Works in concert with key functions to align and advance improvement plans.
  • Progresses concept through initial configuration, prototyping, risk reduction and mature technology readiness.
  • Documents and communicates plans and evaluations for future work packages i.e., bid and proposal.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science ABET accredited 4-year Engineering or Engineering Technology degree
  • 2-3 Years experience
  • Engineering and design knowledge.
  • Highly innovative, possess the ability to problem-solve and work well within a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • US Citizenship Required

Minimum qualifications:

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD, preferably Catia including model-based definition.
  • Adept with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with a variety of part inspection technologies including non-destructive inspection (NDI) and dimensional inspection of both composite and metallic components.
  • Knowledgeable in non-destructive inspection technology, primarily for composites
  • Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and basic mathematics.
  • Capable of performing analysis of data from inspection processes, including gage repeatability & reliability studies and capability analysis. Experience with Minitab a plus.
  • Understands measurement uncertainty, familiar with measurement system analysis, and practiced in gage repeatability and reproducibility studies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with non-destructive inspection technologies and equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in automated and manual inspection techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to translate engineering requirements to measurement plans and perform measurement systems analysis.
