Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

The mission of the Department of (ISSCM) is to provide high-quality programs in information systems and supply chain management. We achieve this by integrating quality education with relevant research and professional service for industry and academia. This endeavor produces principled leaders and exceptional problem solvers with an innovative mindset and a commitment to improve and sustain organizations in a global environment and the communities in which they live.

The ISSCM Department comprises 16 faculty (plus four open positions) in the Information Systems and Supply Chain Management/Operations areas. As of fall 2022, the Department served 383 undergraduate students and 164 graduate students, most of them in the MS in Information Technology & Management (MSITM) program or its stackable certificates in cyber security, business analytics, or supply chain management. The ISSCM Department has an active Ph.D. program in Information Systems. Both the BS in ISSCM and the MSITM programs are offered online and in person. All ISSCM offerings are well aligned with SAS, SAP, and Red Hat, offering a pathway for the students to independently gain industry certifications. The department has active teaching and research relationships with several organizations with a presence in the region including Cone Health, Volvo Trucks North America, VF Corporation as well as multiple regional logistics and transportation organizations located in the area. Our faculty members are active in research and have published in such journals as Information Systems Research,MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Science, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Decision Sciences, and other very high-quality journals. Faculty members in the Department have received external funding from agencies such as the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The Bryan School of Business and Economics has 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 120 full- and part-time faculty members housed in six departments and programs. Approximately 43 percent of the School's faculty are women, and 27.3 percent are from underrepresented ethnic groups (UREG); the School is striving to improve both percentages. The Bryan School graduates more Black/African American undergraduate business students, and the combination of Black/African American and Hispanic undergraduate business students, than ANY university in North Carolina and has a strong placement rate and salary. Accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB, the Bryan School is the recipient of many rankings, honors, and accolades and the faculty are active in research. For example, in 2022 its tenure-stream faculty members averaged 2.3 peer-reviewed journal articles each (16 in FT50 journals), plus 10 others in widely acknowledged A-level journals, in addition to nine books, 23 grants and contracts, and 118 editorial positions with peer-reviewed journals. Position Summary
The Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management (ISSCM) in the Bryan School of Business at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications, expressions of interest, and nominations for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank in Information Systems. The position will commence on August 1, 2024.

We expect the selected candidate to be able to teach both core and elective courses in information systems and business analytics at the undergraduate and graduate levels, ensuring that there is an appropriate level of technical content. Additionally, elective courses are likely to be in areas such as business analytics, cyber security, database management, networking, and telecommunication. As per AACSB accreditation standards, there is an expectation that the candidate's research is tied to her or his teaching area and one or more key elements of our mission (problem-solving, innovation, globalization, sustainability, and ethics), while also participating in department initiatives and hands-on projects. Candidates should show promise of publishing in mainstream top-tier Information Systems journals, such as found in the FT50 or CABS Academic Journal Guide at the 4 and 4* levels.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should hold a Doctorate from an AACSB or EQUIS-accredited school with a
specialization in Information Systems OR Information Science OR another closely related discipline. ABDs who are assured of completion by August 1, 2024, may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
Some teaching experience in IT and business analytics, as well as evidence of successful high-quality refereed journal scholarship, will be considered positively.
