Summary:
Performs a variety of breast specific screening and diagnostic sonograms in an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities:
*Conducts ultrasound screening, ensuring both the safe function of equipment and pursuing the best quality imaging from the procedure.
*Reads and comprehends imaging order, engaging with radiologist when order is unclear, complex or warrants deeper review.
*Interviews patients to understand risk factors and prior medical history components that may warrant a more in-depth examination for safety
*Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy, pathology and the capabilities/limitations of both hardware and specific imaging sequences.
*Guides patients, some distressed, through their examination, applying subject matter expertise and cultural competency to explain the exam. Sets expectations and calms patient for effective imaging.
*Precepts entry-level staff and orients new colleagues. Collaborate and plan the workday and patient flow with colleagues.

Qualifications

Required
* Graduate of an accredited program in Ultrasound imaging
*A.R.D.M.S. registration required. Must have advanced certification in Breast. This advanced certification is above initial registry requirement of ABD/OB.
*Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred
*Three (3) years of experience in breast imaging
