The Nurse Manager is responsible for managing nursing practice and clinical operations within Pre-Op, PACU and Infusion Services to include the flow of patients throughout the provision of services. Assists patients, families and staff navigate the process. Functions as the central point of contact for the staff, ancillary staff, surgeons, anesthesiologists and leadership Manages all internal and external communications within the department and throughout the hospital. Accountability is measured through patient satisfaction scores, productivity, employee engagement, and Work Culture & SAQ surveys.

May provide direct care to patients by utilization of the Nursing Process in accordance with the established policies and procedures. Assists with orienting new employees and students as required.

Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education; and delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of available staff.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job. However, an equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in NC. BSN preferred. BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required.

Experience :
Minimum one year of leadership experience is strongly desired. Mnimum experience of four years clinical experience is desired. Competence in teaching and/or program development.
Basic Computer Skills. Must have excellent organizational skills and ability for multi-tasking.

Must be able to complete required reports with accuracy and meet prescribed deadlines. Must be innovative in problem solving, communicate well and be able to supervise clinical staff to manage effectively with available resources. Must be able to work without continuous supervision.

The Nurse Manager must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his or her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Work is not completely standardized. Assignments are often received in the form of results expected, due dates and general procedures to follow.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
