Position at HBF

HBF, an industry leader in office furniture design and manufacturing, and a top brand in the HNI Corporation enterprise, is in search of a Supply Chain Engineer to join their team in Hickory, North Carolina!  This is a unique position that a combines engineering concepts and capabilities with supply chain functions, all devoted to new product introductions.   In this role you will work with multiple teams in diverse functions to evaluate and redesign supply chain standards and processes to enhance and optimize production for new product launches.  With multiple new product launches on the horizon, this will be a very exciting time to join the HBF team!

To be successful in this role, you must be a very organized self-starter, able to initiate and drive projects, and perform effectively in a plant environment, interacting and collaborating across multiple levels.  In addition, capabilities with data analytics will be essential, and a foundational understanding of Lean Manufacturing will be very helpful. 

This is an ideal role for a recent graduate with relevant internship experience, or someone pursuing a career in engineering or supply chain with just a few years of experience.  Many people advance from this role to continuing careers in engineering, operations, or product development!  

 

Some of the essential aspects of the Supply Chain Engineer position include:

  • Collaborate with New Product introduction team, Quality, and Production teams to successfully launch new products
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and provide solutions to current supply chain flow.
  • Manage improvement projects or process development projects bringing together several functional areas to eliminate waste and meet the needs of the organization
  • Define, track and analyze metrics to ensure processes are being followed and root cause of issues is identified and resolved.
  • Develop and implement solutions for supplier optimization, improved material flow, cost reductions, and improved efficiencies.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

What it takes:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Supply Chain or Engineering, preferably Industrial or Mechanical
  • Minimum of 2 years (or comparable) relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Aptitude for analytics as well as proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Oracle.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed
