About the Department | The 900+ positions of the Facilities Division service the students and staff of the University's teaching, research/administrative space and 2,240 acres of infrastructure. The Facilities Division provides design and building services, maintenance, custodial, landscape, solid waste removal, utility, mail, and motor pool services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The goal is to deliver cost effective services to the University, ensure completed projects and maintenance that conform to codes and regulations, while minimizing University liabilities and disruptions caused by the maintenance, repair, building, and equipment modifications to the University. The primary responsibility of the organizational unit is providing cleaning, sanitizing, and pest control services to over 10 million square feet of campus space. This service is provided through the utilization of over 320 staff members. |
Essential Job Duties | This position's overall function is to serve as service support for the Zone Manager in the overall operations of the zone, in the areas of cleaning, leading projects (such as power washing entrances, window washing, waxing floors, relamping, fixture and dispensers, customer relations, etc.), training and transportation of staff and delivery of supplies to staff. Serves as next in command in the absence of the Zone Manager. Provides support for all housekeeping tasks and performs other housekeeping related tasks. The position is also responsible in assisting and performing inspections of fixtures, equipment, and determines cleanliness of areas. Reports discrepancies found within the buildings, in addition to responding to emergencies and inclement weather. The position will use standard housekeeping equipment such as auto-scrubbers, burnishers, and power washers in addition to performing minor repairs on these and other small equipment. |

Minimum Experience/Education | Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions. |
