Position Description:

The Sales Director, National Accounts position manages the largest and highest value customer accounts (Premium Accounts) with a designated Sales staff. The focus will be to sell sustainable environmentally superior material management solutions for fortune 500 companies. There will be a focus on industrial waste (typically non-haz), Retail/ Consumer Products, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, Chemical, etc.

The value propositions will be focused on Zero Waste to Landfill (Zero Waste), Assured Destruction, Depackaging/ Recycling, Reuse. In addition to selling unique and more sustainable waste solutions, the position will be responsible for selling customer onsite services and field project work.

The Sales Director, National Accounts will work very closely with the Vice President of Sales, as well as the regional General Managers and the other regional Sales Directors to create a growth strategy and vision for the CES sales team. The Senior Sales Director establishes a national sales program and sales team procedures, reporting, and KPIs to measure and achieve the CES sales goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Vice President of Sales to set and communicate the Premium Account strategy for CES sales
  • Coach the sales team and coordinate with the other Sales team leaders to achieve/exceed the budget & forecast goals
  • Create a world-class sales team that is the model for success
  • Attract & hire top of class sales managers
  • Retain top talent & mentor rising stars
  • Define a culture of clear rules, responsibilities, and expectations
  • Build out a growth strategy of defined industry sectors and client targets
  • Define market sectors and lines of responsibility to sales staff
  • Complete focus on large profile direct business
  • Build and continually review customers in sales pipelines
  • Monitor progress of each sales manager and engage to drive results
  • Review monthly forecasts
  • Monitor KPI targets
  • Act as a liaison between Covanta executives and the sales team
  • Create and promote a culture of cooperation within and among the sales team, GM's, and other departments
  • Build & communicate the yearly sales budget & monthly forecast

Position Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or equivalent experience, Master's degree preferred
  • 10+ years experience in sales and account management. Material management in the areas of Hazardous or Non-Hazardous waste preferred
  • Ability to build a sales team, determine the optimal size for the business
  • Ability to drive growth, motivate teams, and achieve results
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment
  • Travel - up to 50%
