JOB SUMMARY:

Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua? We have a great opportunity for a Facility Operator to join our team on a full-time, direct basis at our Kernersville, NC facility! In this role, you will operate water and wastewater treatment processes & facilities; this involves controlling the variations of flow rates & processing methods as well as performing necessary maintenance & repairs on the plant's distribution systems, pumps, and booster stations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Perform scheduled plant inspections; this may involve serving as Operator in Responsible Charge of assigned systems.
  • Monitor gauges, meters, control panels, and controls variations / operating conditions of the treatment process; this involves recording meter & gauge readings.
  • Maintain all records pertaining to production, maintenance, and treatment (as required); this includes reading charts, flow meters, and gauges to detect equipment malfunctions.
  • Collect samples and perform necessary chemical analysis (in accordance with system sampling requirements).
  • Extract samples and perform routine laboratory tests; this involves documenting and certifying test results.
  • Responsible for addressing service orders pertaining to customer service, water distribution, and/or collections system calls.
  • Perform other duties or special projects, as requested (related to your area of responsibility).
  • Must be available to work overtime as well as with "on-call" responsibilities, as scheduled.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school Diploma (or GED equivalent).
  • 2 years of professional experience working with industrial mechanical systems is preferred.
  • Experience working in a Utility environment, especially with Water and/or Waste Water treatment, is preferred.
  • C Well Water License or Grade I Waste Water License is preferred.
  • A valid U.S. Driver's License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; this person must be able to communicate effectively (i.e.: clearly, concisely, and professionally) with internal customers.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well under-pressure.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Player demeanor with the ability to work effectively in a team-fostered multi-tasking environment.

CAREER PROGRESSION:

  • FO Trainee - Will be required to get either a C Well or Grade I waste water license within 18 months of employment.
  • FO I - Minimum license requirement of C Well or Grade I.
  • FO II - Must meet dual licensing requirements and have either a B Well or a Grade II.
  • FO III - Must meet dual licensing requirements of at least a B Well and Grade II plus have an A Well or Grade III.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet (and/or humid) conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases, and /or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Working conditions include travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents.

Company vehicle will be provided for business purposes.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

Seasonal employees / Summer internships are excluded from these requirements, however vaccinations are preferred.
