The Study Abroad Office offers a flexible work environment, and this position may be eligible for hybrid or remote work.
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Study Abroad Office at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the primary unit charged with study abroad program development, oversight, and advising. Based within the College of Arts & Sciences, the office oversees some 340 study abroad opportunities in 70 countries, with a staff of approximately 20 fulltime professionals, and administers $1 million in scholarship funds. In 2016-17, 40 percent of students in the College participated in education abroad, and the College has articulated a goal of increasing participation to 50 percent by 2025. The office collaborates with academic and administrative units throughout the College, as well as with other UNC schools. The Study Abroad Office is part of UNC Global and is located in the FedEx Global Education Center.
Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The UNC Study Abroad Office is seeking a temporary, part-time assistant to support the day-to-day responsibilities and relevant projects of the Credit Team, primarily consisting of credit transfer for outbound students participating in study abroad programs. They will assist with facilitating the entire credit transfer process and manage the credit portal for students, departments, and other stakeholders. Additionally, this position will support other aspects of the credit transfer team, including advising, participation in student events, and other student support functions as requested.

Position Responsibilities & Expectations: This position will primarily be responsible for assisting with and/or overseeing: Regularly answer emails and advise outbound students on the credit transfer process; Process student and departmental credit requests in the Study Abroad Credit Portal, to include converting credits/grades earned on Study Abroad Office programs into UNC-Chapel Hill equivalencies; Evaluate returning student transcripts; Create study abroad credit transfer reports; Other regular clean-up of standard processes.

Flexible schedule may be possible.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong writing and editing skills; attention to detail; ability to prioritize level of urgency of student and staff needs; excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to switch back and forth between tasks frequently; experience in MS Office
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Bachelor's degree; experience with processing credit or credit transfer, or understanding of curriculum at university or college level; knowledge of other complex software platforms and database systems, in particular People Soft or UNC's ConnectCarolina platform; advanced MS Excel and reporting creation; experience studying, living and/or working internationally is preferred; experience specifically with Terra Dotta (TDS) software highly desired
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to switch back and forth between tasks frequently.
