Position Summary | Reporting to the UNC Health Director of Content and Patient Communications and working with communications leads in the UNC School of Medicine and communications professionals within the departments in the school, this position serves as the lead School of Medicine Videographer, capturing, editing, brainstorming and producing compelling videos that can be used on med.unc.edu, YouTube, social media, other web sites and digital platforms across the School of Medicine, UNC-Chapel Hill and by media outlets. Accuracy, ability to meet tight deadlines, teamwork, strong organization and a knack for storytelling are a must. Visual storytelling is vital for organizational communications and marketing- both for internal and external audiences. Based on the evolving needs of UNC School of Medicine, the volume of video content needs has increased dramatically. These changes require this position to take a leadership role in generating content ideas and developing them from the planning to completion stage. Having a dedicated School of Medicine storyteller ensures we are able to amplify the School of Medicine mission, improving brand reputation and sharing valuable information with key audiences. Moving forward as technology develops, this position will continue to evolve and provide substantial value to the organization. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | -Video shooting experience -Editing skills using premiere pro -Experience with lighting -Ability to shoot and edit a variety of videos styles (interview, social media, long and short form digital series) -Driver's license and reliable transportation |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | -Agility to adjust to different situations at shoots -Excellent verbal and written skills combined with strong interpersonal skills -Degree in communications or related field -Seven years of professional video production experience -Skills to manage equipment inventory and ensure proper maintenance -Familiar with Adobe products -Skilled with using a mirrorless camera -Skills and ability to cover everything from preproduction to final product -Quick editing skills |
