Your role and responsibilities

Mandatory use and care of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Provide quality, safe, and efficient jobspecific training. Ensures that Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements are integrated and up to date in all business processes and applications used for training driven by the trainer.
Adhere to work schedules, respecting times allocated for breaks (meals) and other corresponding activities
Providing technical training on the shop floor. Instructing, motivating, and assessment operational trainees based on process sheets
Prepares and delivers training courses in classroom and in operation areas and follows up posttraining day activities. Takes into consideration feedback given on courses and implements corrective action when needed
Ensures safe working conditions for training course participants by ABB safety instructions and regulations
Develop course material for classroom and shop floor training in own area of responsibility and advise on updates needed in elearning material
Fulfill the operational indicators of the area. Follow up on established priorities within the set times and goals
Work and respect according to the Production Golden Rules and internal operational instructions
Preserve and maintain the tools, equipment, and devices assigned for the exercise of their work and report the expiration of calibration when applicable to the responsible staff
Perform 6S routines in the area according to established standards
Seek support from areas related to the operation when necessary
Maintain good human relations (communication, respect, teamwork) within the group and in other areas
Responsible, directly, and confidentially manage all internal information
Support the standards of Safety, Health, and Environmental Protection
Support in the administration of the training process
Ensure and monitor shop floor training
Participate in the followup of training with process managers on specialized topics (e.g. crane, forklift)
Ensure the effectiveness of the training. Applying practical and theoretical evaluation methods
To provide reliable and unbiased competency information in personnel assignments considering process priorities and competencies demonstrated during technical training
Participate in the creation of didactic materials, presentations, and/or learning tools that enable staff to understand operational topics
Preserve controlled documents used in jobspecific technical training
Uploading, filing, and distribution of records generated in stages of the jobspecific technical training
Maintain effective communication with departments related to the training support
Providing records and knowledge to auditors and administrations
To Conduct observations in operating areas to verify that teacher instructions in training are being followed
Informing immediately inappropriate situations to the relevant process supervisors and being involved in the solution proactively if necessary. Escalating unresolved inappropriate situations to Quality Management
Flexibility to work on modified shifts to support training plans
All other duties as required

Qualifications for the role

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and mechanics
  • Reading of electrical and mechanical plans
  • Interpretation of electrical diagrams
  • Interpretation of BOM (Bill of Materials)
  • Compliance with Internal work instructions
  • Use of manual, pneumatic, and electric tools
  • Basics of Microsoft Office
  • 5 plus years of prior experience working in manufacturing or field services working on electrical distribution equipment including: Switchgear (480 V to 27kV), Switchboards or Panelboards, Motor control centers, Transformers, Load interrupter switches and Busway
  • Prior experience in manufacturing on an engineered to order product
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing leadership role
  • Basics of software used in operations such as SAP, Windchill
  • Knowledge and application of basic safety concepts
  • Torquing and screwing of components
  • Reading and filling out production reports
  • Interpersonal relations and influence
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Strategic thinking
  • Control and leadership of groups
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Identification of acceptance and rejection criteria for mechanical and wiring assembly
  • Technical career and 3 years of experience in the industry
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
