Job Description

We are seeking an accomplished veterinarian to support and grow the Zoetis diagnostics business with key customer accounts.

Key functions of this role are:

  • To develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Zoetis diagnostic products and services to be able to consult with, develop, and educate Zoetis customers and train the diagnostic VPS field team.
  • Grow and strengthen the Zoetis relationship with medical leadership in key customer accounts in partnership with Area Business Manager and local sales teams.
  • Develop diagnostic medical education plans for these customers and marshal Zoetis resources to effectively execute the diagnostic component of Zoetis strategic plans within these accounts.
  • Serve as a liaison to coordinate diagnostic educational, scientific, and business support activities across key customer hospitals.
  • Significant travel of at least 65% including some weekend and overnight work/travel is a requirement.

Primary Responsibilities

Medical Relationships and Education

  • In partnership with Area Business Manager and local sales team to develop medical education plans for key customers to ensure that they are well educated in key therapeutic and disease areas to support sales growth for Zoetis diagnostics.
  • Build relations with medical and field leadership of key customers (i.e. Chief Medical Officers, Regional Medical Directors, Medical Directors, Chiefs of Staff etc.).
  • Partner with the U.S. Diagnostics Sales Lead; U.S. Petcare Corporate & Specialty Team and Zoetis Global Diagnostic team to create effective diagnostic educational, promotional, and training programs (medical education, commercial plans, and pipeline/new product activities) for key customers.
  • Partner with the U.S. Petcare teams, Global commercial development, Diagnostics R & D, U.S. Diagnostics marketing, and Zoetis global diagnostics to facilitate the uptake and utilization of Zoetis diagnostics products and services.
  • Partner with U.S. Diagnostics VPS, U.S. Petcare Corporate & Specialty team colleagues, Global Diagnostics, and medical leadership of these customers to collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative information about the needs and educational gaps (as pertains to Zoetis diagnostics) within these customers. Identify & Develop Key Opinion Leaders to advocate for Zoetis diagnostics within corporate and specialty accounts.

Internal Planning / Alignment / Execution

  • Collaborate with the Area Business Manager and field force colleagues to identify and develop core diagnostic medical education opportunities, priorities, and strategic imperatives in key accounts.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of brand strategies for each diagnostic brand category and ensure Zoetis products are thoroughly, and appropriately, positioned within each assigned account.
  • Collaborate with Area Business Manager to support, coach, and drive the execution of the strategic vision for Zoetis Diagnostics
  • Demonstrate an exceptional level of communication and collaboration across all functions of U.S. Corporate & Specialty, U.S. Diagnostics and Global Diagnostics to facilitate the coordinated execution of diagnostic medical education tactics across key customers.

External Planning / Alignment / Execution

  • Work collaboratively with U.S. Diagnostics Sales and Marketing Leadership to ensure diagnostic strategic and tactical plans are consistent/aligned with overall U.S. Diagnostic commercial strategies.
  • Work with key customers, U.S. Diagnostics VPS, Sales, Marketing, and U.S. Corporate & Specialty colleagues on strategic planning and program delivery to create mutual growth for our emphasis on diagnostic services and solutions with key customers.
  • Collaborate on Key Opinion Leader and Medical Communication strategy with U.S. Petcare VPS, US Corporate & Specialty, and Global Diagnostics medical affairs.
  • Be recognized as a credible representative of Zoetis within key customers. Attend and contribute to selected professional organization meetings.

Qualifications (i.e., preferred education, experience, attributes)

Required Experience and Skills

* Thorough technical understanding and knowledge of all Zoetis Diagnostic offerings

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)

* Proven leadership ability with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to embrace complexity and rapid, continuous change

* Financial experience including budgetary management

* Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team-based environment, align with and influence internal and external stakeholders, and build/manage relationships at all levels of an organization.

* Demonstrated strategic directional thinking skills

* Demonstrated ability for matrix management

* Strong relationship building skills

* Adept at working in highly fluid, complex, and ever-changing environments.

* Project/process management and attention to detail. Ability to exercise good judgment and make thoughtful/fair decisions based on relevant information.

* Computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, and ability to learn Zoetis systems).

Minimum Qualifications

* Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent.

* 5+ years of post-doctoral experience in clinical practice, academia, research, or industry.

* Board certification or additional advanced degrees (i.e., MS, MBA) are a plus.

* Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word applications.

  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
