The Regional Transportation Safety Manager (TSM) - is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining a transportation related safety program focused on providing direction to the fleet on DOT and FMCSA requirements. The position assists in ensuring we maintain industry leading safety scores. The position will be responsible for driver onboarding, maintaining compliant files and records (DQF), and ensuring inspections and hours of service requirements are adhered to.


A Taste of What You'll be Doing:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement a variety of safety programs & goals to promote safe driving and work practices, aimed at preventing losses related to collisions and workplace incidents.
  • Management of Samsara camera system in all delivery vehicles
  • Implement and maintain transportation safety strategies for territory into manageable policies and procedures to move the Company forward to continuous safety improvement
  • Develops and implements standardized process for Driver Background Check, Pre-Employment Medical Screening & DOT Physicals, Random DOT Alcohol/Drug Screening (as needed), Previous Employer Release of Information, etc.
  • Prepares and submits required Federal and State DOT Trucking Registrations, Licensing, & Compliance Reports. Manages driver DOT files
  • Conducts incident investigations, root-cause analysis, follow-up, and closure of action items, and leverage learning across organization for all vehicle accidents and or claims.
  • Ensures that all newly hired drivers have met all onboarding, driving test and training requirements before they begin independent driving routes.
  • Develop, implement, maintain a worker safety participation program.
  • Collaboration with the training department to identify safety topics, create tools, materials, and aids to enhance the safety training program and to ensure regulatory and functional safety training is properly conducted to all employees upon hire, recurring and remedial basis.
  • Assess and investigate all reported collisions, hazards, near-miss, injury, illness, facility damage, or any incident that involves an employee, customer, or company property.
  • Coordinate with field teams reporting the incident, insurance carriers, legal, human resources, and other groups to ensure the matter is thoroughly investigated and that the root cause is determined so that mitigation measures can be implemented.
  • Collaborate with field operations managers to ensure company health and safety policies and procedures are communicated and understood.
  • Stay current in trade journals. Participate in meetings, seminars, conferences, and training sessions to obtain information beneficial to Krispy Kreme's occupational health and safety.
  • Work with peers to advocate, participate, promote wellness and a safe work culture. Collaborate with internal departments to integrate safety strategies into all aspects of our business.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Your Recipe for Success:

  • B.S./B.A. degree with at least 3 years related experience in transportation safety, driver training or safety and health or 5 years of direct transportation safety experience (prior driving experience is a plus)
  • Strong background in transportation Certification by the BCSP is a plus.
  • Familiarity with drive camera systems and coaching methods to ensure positive outcomes from flagged events
  • Knowledge of DOT requirements for CMV drivers (FMCSA)
  • Advanced Excel, Word, Internet, and PowerPoint skills
  • Able to train and coach drivers and managers in Defensive Driving techniques
  • Excellent customer service skills & composure under pressure situations
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and time management skills, self-starter
  • Demonstrate an awareness and appreciation for cultural diversity in our store community
  • Read, interpret, and apply DOT and OSHA regulations related to driver safety occupational health and safety
  • Excellent professional communication skills
  • Must be able to travel up to (50%)
  • Must possess current, valid driver's license
