Minimum Experience/Education

High school diploma or equivalency.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education & experience may be considered. Some knowledge of athletic supplies, equipment and/or services ordering and inventory control. Ability to adhere to applicable University, NCAA, MEAC rules and regulations.
Required License or Certification
Ability to obtain AEMA certification within 2 years.
Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position
This position specifically supports the mission of the University and the Intercollegiate Athletics Department. The Assistant Athletic Equipment Manager assist all teams with maintaining athletic apparel and equipment purchased by the University. This position will assist all teams with sanitizing uniforms, maintaining a clean environment, maintaining inventory of and storing all uniforms and equipment coming in and out of the equipment room.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Intercollegiate Athletics Department is consistent with the mission of the University to provide an intellectual environment where students develop a sense of identification, belonging, responsibility, and achievement that prepares them for leadership and service in regional, national and global communities. The Department of Athletics provides a comprehensive program of intercollegiate competition as an integral part of the total educational experience for all students.

Work Hours 10am - 7pm; Monday - Friday; Must be able to travel as requested.

Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies

Required Competency Customer Service
Duties
* Maintains, repairs, issues, cleans, and inventories athletic equipment for assigned teams
* Ensures the safety and protection of students during practice and competition through protective equipment and uniforms
* Hosts visiting teams during assigned home competitions
Required Competency Communication-Oral
Duties
* Reports any damage, malfunction, irregularities, and/or potential hazards in grounds, equipment, uniforms, vehicles, or supplies to supervisor
* Communicates with coaches as needed for ordering practice and/or competition needs
Required Competency Managing Work and Performance
Duties
* Supervises student workers
* Treats and preserves equipment and apparel
* Assists teams with laundry scheduling in assigned facilities
