Logistics Supervisor

Overseeing all logistics operations for OAA Greer, the Logistics Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations and shipping and receiving activities. This responsibility includes oversight of inventory management and related warehouse processes. To accomplish these goals, the Logistics Supervisor will direct the day-to-day activities of their staff in the physical and administrative tasks involved in receiving, storing, shipping, packaging, and distributing materials, parts, supplies, and finished goods. The supervisor is also responsible for oversight of the department's process, layout and systems improvements which will include the mentoring and training of staff and the development of plans, forecasts, and reports.

Responsibilities:

Shipping & Receiving

  • Ensure materials are received by Logistics staff and made available to meet daily production schedules.
  • Work closely with the Quality team to ensure materials received meet production and design standards.
  • Oversee materials handling function such that the parts and supplies bins for the manufacturing floor are replenished in a timely and effective fashion.
  • Ensure products are shipped as per sales order schedules by the logistics staff.
  • Coordinate and maintain all shipping services and functions and take points on all shipping issues.
  • Monitor the daily Open Order report, promptly resolving issues to ensure on-time shipping goals are met.
  • Act as the primary representative for the company's needs to the carrier representatives to facilitate the inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Ensure quality of shipping regarding correct product, counts, documents and routing per sales order and customer requirements with the goal of zero defects in outbound quality escapes in these areas.

Inventory

  • Ensure that all order fulfillment, inventory receipts, other material handling activities and cycle counting responsibilities are assigned to appropriate warehouse personnel.
  • Conduct reconciliation between stock and ERP / MRP database records as necessary to mitigate large or negatively impactful adjustments.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other departments to assure that the company's inventory goals and objectives are met and smooth material flow is facilitated.
  • Use sound judgment and proper documentation whenever adjusting inventory amounts, while informing management of large, impactful adjustments.
  • Coordinate and lead the inventory physical count events when required.

Administration

  • Create and implement SOP and Lean processes that optimize the material flow; ensuring that Logistics meets vendor guide requirements, inventory efficiencies and inventory management objectives.
  • Provides timely and correct information and reports to management and internal or external customers as it relates to shipping, receiving, cycle counts, and inventory matters or issues.
  • Support the Logistics Operations Manager regarding continuous improvement projects and Lean programs.
  • Coordinate and implement special projects involving requiring cross departmental projects between Logistics and Supply Chain, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and such.

Supervisory Duties (Based on consultation with the Warehouse Operations Manager)

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the logistics staff
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable law; including interviewing, hiring, training and staffing employees.
  • Plan, assign and direct work; to include appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Duties and responsibilities are to be performed directly or judiciously delegated to subordinates as most appropriate for the situation.
  • Ensure effective orientation and training of the logistics' staff.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Five years of experience in the warehousing of manufactured components.
  • Three years of supervisory experience in high-change environment with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate warehouse teams in shipping, receiving and inventory management for a global company.
  • Documented expertise in an ERP / MRP as it relates to shipping, receiving and inventory of materials, parts, and products in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven strength and an attention to detail about shipping and receiving products.
  • Demonstrated strength in written and oral communication with technically driven customers.
  • Valid and current driver's license and the ability to travel 10% of the time.
